The pandemic has caused many business to close down, but what happens when you have a special dress ordered for a close friend's wedding? That's what happened to one bridesmaid when Brideside shuttered its doors in Charlotte.

Becca Smith said expected the bridesmaid dress she ordered to come in on November 9, but she was left scrambling when none showed up.

"This is what my best friend wants," Smith said. "This is what she wants us to wear, and I have not heard back. I never received anything, but I didn't think anything of it because of COVID, things might be a little bit behind."

According to WCNC, Brideside's website had said it was only "temporarily closed for COVID," but that it changed Friday to say "permanently closed." The news outlet attempted to contact the store multiple times about the change, but did not receive a response.

Charlotte Better Business Bureau's Tom Batholomy said those who didn't receive their orders prior to the shop closing could file small claims but that it would be difficult to collect any money they are owed.

This isn't the first time a bridal shop closing has surprised and upset plans for a special occasion. Some bridal stores have gotten in hot water after suddenly closing their doors without alerting those who were waiting on orders to arrive.
