If you're cooking Thanksgiving dinner at home this year, it'll cost you $47.02 to feed a family for 10, or $4.70 per person.
The Arizona Farm Bureau released the average cost per item you'd find in a traditional Thanksgiving dinner last week.
The agricultural organization found that a turkey dinner with all of the fixings in 2020 costs about 10% more than it did last year.
“An increase makes us hunt for the item that rose the most from last year, but the average cost for a classic Thanksgiving dinner remains affordable for most Arizona families,” Arizona Farm Bureau Outreach Director Julie Murphree said in a statement. “If we break it down per person at $4.70, we realize how reasonable the 2020 Thanksgiving meal can be for the average family."
Here are the average prices for Thanksgiving day staples:
- Turkey (16 lbs.): $14.08
- Cube stuffing (14 oz.): $3.81
- Pumpkin pie mix (30 oz.): $3.59
- 2 pie shells: $2.83
- Sweet potatoes (3 lbs.): $4.59
- 12 brown & serve rolls: $3.78
- Frozen green peas (1 lb.): $2.12
- Whole milk (1 gallon): $2.65
- Fresh cranberries (12 oz.): $2.59
- Whipping cream (1/2 pint): $2.25
- Vegetable tray (1 lb.): $1.48
- Coffee, onions, sugar, flour, evaporated milk, and butter: $3.25
If you already purchased the turkey and all the fixings, how did your grocery bill compare?
