4 New England Ski Resorts Listed Among Best In U.S., Canada

Four New England ski resorts recently ranked among the best in the United States and Canada.

Waterville Valley Resort in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire, Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, Stowe Mountain Resort in Stowe, Vermont and Sunday River Resort in Newry, Maine of Conde Nast Traveler's 2020 Readers Choice Awards picks for the 30 best ski resorts in the U.S. and Canada.

Waterville Valley Resort ranked the highest at No. 13, Sugarloaf ranked No. 19, Stowe Mountain Resort ranked No. 20 and Sunday River Resort ranked No. 29.

Deer Valley, Utah topped the list at No. 1 overall.

The magazine credited Waterville Valley as "an affordable ski hill" with "12 lifts for 62 trails" among its "45-acre Green Park area." Sugarloaf offers 1,240 acres, which is "the largest ski area east of the Rockies," according to the publication.

Stowe Mountain Resort includes 485 acres of "mostly intermediate terrain" but also has "a good variety of runs" such as "easy greens and double black diamonds," according to Conde Nast Traveler.

Sunday River Resort has "eight peaks spanning three miles wide" as well as "fantastic terrain for everyone from beginners to experts" among 135 trails and 18 ski lifts, according to the magazine.
