Dallas County Iowa Sheriff warns of phone scam

(Dallas County, IA) -- The Dallas County Sheriff's Office is warning about a phone scam, in which someone falsely says he's Sergeant Jim Brown. The Sheriff's office says they've had numerous reports about the calls. The caller is attempting to get people to disclose personal information over the phone.

The sheriff's reminds residents if they get a strange call like this to simply hang up and contact local law enforcement.

The sheriffs office says this time of year it seems such scams are even more common and residents should be vigilant.
