Man Allegedly Threatened Garbage Truck Driver With Gun In Portland

A man allegedly threatened a garbage truck driver with a gun in southeast Portland, KATU reported.

Early Tuesday morning (November 24), police officers were called to the 3500 block of Southeast 122nd Avenue. A victim, who is a garbage truck driver, told authorities an unknown suspect approached and pointed a firearm at them. The victim told police that an unknown suspect approached and pointed a gun at them. They also said they ran off but witnessed the suspect get into the garbage truck that was left behind.

"Officers were able to find the suspect who was still inside the garbage truck. Police said the suspect ignored all commands, walked over to another vehicle, got in, and drove off," according to KATU. Authorities said they chased the vehicle until they were able to stop it with a PIT maneuver. The suspect tried to flee, but they were able to arrest him. They identified the suspect as 21-year-old Jay Wilson.

Wilson is facing charges, including robbery III, menacing, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, attempt to elude (by vehicle), attempt to elude (by foot), and resisting arrest.
