Officials said the body found inside a vehicle in a Washington state river was a 15-year-old girl, according to KOMO on Monday (November 23).

Authorities originally thought the victim was a young woman, but after further investigation, they identified the body as 15-year-old Taylor Bentley.

Last Friday (November 20), Mount Vernon Police said they believe Bentley called 911 and said she drove a car into Skagit River from a boat ramp at Edgewater Park. They searched for her and the vehicle that night. Hazardous conditions prevented crews continuing, so they suspended it, reporters said.

Come Saturday morning, crews were able to recover her body from the vehicle, according to police. It was 300 yards downstream from the boat launch, KOMO added. The vehicle is still in the river as of Monday. An investigation is ongoing, police said no foul play is suspected.

Earlier this week, a couple "miraculously" survived a crash that left their car torn in half in Pierce County. One of the halves fell 100 feet into a wooded ravine, too.

Officials found a dead woman inside a submerged car that crashed into a canal in Alligator Alley earlier in November. Florida authorities could not access the vehicle right away because alligators were surrounding the scene.
