If you're looking for a different and unique gift this Christmas, skip Black Friday and shop local.
Small businesses were hit hard by the pandemic this year, and state leaders are encouraging Texans to support their neighborhood businesses this holiday season.
Shopping local means your more likely to find a one-of-a-kind item, but it's also a way to support job creators, neighbors, and the local economy.
These San Antonio retailers will be open after Thanksgiving, and most have deals or events for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.
Caliente Hot Glass: The glass blower sells beautiful and delicate gifts that range from $35 to the thousands of dollars. Their Saturday, November 28, sales will benefit the San Antonio Food Bank.
Feliz Modern: This is the spot for San Antonio-inspired gifts and colorful holiday decorations. Instead of Black Friday, the store is having Give Back Friday where 10% of online and in-store sales will be donated to the San Antonio Food Bank.
Pearl Farmers Market: Starting on Saturday, November 28, the Pearl will hold a weekly market featuring local artisans and vendors. A list of vendors can be found on Facebook.
San Antonio Zoo: The zoo is offering 30% off annual passes, tours, camps, birthday parties, and merchandise from now until November 30. Some of the discounts apply to events happening in 2021 so you can gift a post-pandemic zoo experience to an animal lover.
The Twig Book Shop: The bookstore on Pearl Parkway regularly hosts events that highlight Texas and San Antonio writers. From November 25 to November 30, you'll receive a free audiobook if you spend at least $15 either in person or online. It's the perfect place to find your next pandemic read.
