Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is reportedly set to undergo reconstructive knee surgery in Los Angeles this week and is expected to make a "full recovery" after suffering a season-ending knee injury earlier this month.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Dr. Neal ElAttrache of Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center will perform the surgery and that the prognosis is positive.

"#Bengals QB Joe Burrow will head out West this week to have reconstructive knee surgery on his ACL performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache of Kerlan-Jobe in LA," Rapoport tweeted. "He is expected to make a full recovery."

Burrow, the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, was favored to win the 2020 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award with an impressive start to his pro career, despite his team's struggles. The former Heisman Trophy winner recorded 2,688 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions on 264-of-404 passing, averaging a 65.3 completion percentage in 10 games.

However, Burrow was sacked 32 times -- which currently ranks as the third highest amount among NFL quarterbacks -- before taking a hit from Washington Football Team defensive tackle Jonathan Allen during a 20-9 Week 11 loss and experiencing a season-ending injury.

Burrow confirmed he would likely miss the remainder of his rookie season shortly after being carted off the field, tweeting, "Thanks for all the love. Can't get rid of me that easy. See ya next year," hours later.

Burrow started during his final two seasons at LSU prior to declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft in January, which included leading the Tigers to a College Football Playoff National Championship during a record-setting Heisman campaign during his senior year.

The Bengals are currently fourth place in the AFC North with a 2-8-1 overall record.
