Hornets fans hoping to take in a game once the season begins will be disappointed to learn that fans won't be allowed to attend home games at the start of the season.

"With health and safety as our top priority, and in consultation with state and local government officials, we have determined that home games at Spectrum Center will be held without fans when the 2020-21 NBA season begins," the team said in a statement on Monday (November 30).

The statement continued, "We will continue to work with state and local health officials, as well as the NBA, to develop a plan that will allow fans to return to Spectrum Center in both a safe and timely manner. We are optimistic that conditions will improve in the coming months and hope to be able to have fans in attendance later in the season."

With the potential for a vaccine to start making its way to states soon, the team is hopeful to bring fans back to cheer on their favorite team. Officials with the team said they will implement enhanced safety procedures for when fans will be allowed to return to games, but will announced them closer to that time.

The Hornets' preseason is set to begin with two matchups against the Toronto Raptors at home on December 12 and December 14.
