Police Arrest Man For Possessing Weapons Of Mass Destruction

Huntersville Police arrested a man over the weekend who allegedly possessed weapons of mass destruction.

Police arrived at a location on the 8000 block of Streamview Drive on Saturday (November 28) to assist with a victim retrieving property from a home following a previous domestic disturbance. While on scene, an officer noticed what appeared to be an explosive device, and the area was quickly evacuated.

Multiple agencies were called in to assist with removing the device, including, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Charlotte Fire Department, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Bomb Squad, and the Huntersville Fire Department. The device was safely disposed of and removed from the site.

On Sunday (November 29), police were able to apprehend 38-year-old Justin Lloyd Coleman without further incident. The U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted in Coleman's arrest. Huntersville Police and the ATF are continuing to investigate the incident.

Coleman was arrested and charged with two counts of Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction and two counts of Possession of a Firearm by Felon. He was taken into custody and booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail.
