Winter Park Resort has announced December 3 as their new opening date. However, the anticipated date is still pending state approval.
The 2020/21 ski season launched in November with a bumpy start as a surge of coronavirus and hospitalizations caused Colorado officials to implement tighter restrictions for businesses.
Although ski resorts are allowed to remain open under the new Level Red restrictions, they have had to adjust their operations in order to comply with the state's safety guidelines.
Winter Park was initially set to open on November 18 but has had multiple delays since then.
"After some natural snow accumulation and successful snow-making efforts this month, we anticipate opening on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 9am, pending state approval of our operating plan," they announced in their official announcement.
We anticipate opening on Dec. 3 at 9am (pending state approval). We’re stoked to welcome you back for the 20/21 season & would like to extend our gratitude to employees who've been working diligently to help us open. The resort has launched a health code of conduct for skiers called the 5 Commitments of Containment.
They include maintaining 6 feet between others outside of your group, washing your hands often, wearing a face-covering in public, getting tested immediately if you develop COVID symptoms, and staying home if you know you are sick or at risk.
Part of their operating plan is the elimination of walk-up purchases. All tickets must be booked online at least 48 hours in advance.
