The popular Mexican restaurant Lindo Michoacan is closing its original location on East Desert Inn Road because of a sinkhole.

"On November 14, 2020 out of nowhere the walls began to crack, the Main dining room floor opened up and began to sink. After much inspection we found out the problem was not only in the main dining area but throughout the ENTIRE building. A sinkhole was threatening the structure's collapse from a pipe that had leaked causing water damage that may have been going on for some time," according to a statement released by the restaurant.

The closing is temporary but the restaurant didn't say when it expects to reopen.

Management said it had to lay off 80 people because of the closure. The restaurant will distribute all of its dry storage, frozen and walk-in storage food to its employees, Fox 5 reported.

This isn't the first time the original location has closed. The 30-year-old restaurant shut down for two years after a 2002 fire.

"Lindo Michoacan overcame burning down in 2002 (where we were closed from 2002 until January 13, of 2004). We overcame the 2008-2009 recession. We overcame the First corona virus shutdown (from March 17-May 22), and we WILL overcome this!!" management said in a statement.
