An Oregon woman allegedly threw a can of food at a deputy while resisting arrest, according to KATU.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO), a deputy made a traffic stop on a Chrysler PT Cruiser shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday (November 29). The official found out that the female passenger, 54-year-old Holly Lynne Sigmund, had a warrant for her arrest.
Officials said Sigmund became "confrontational" after getting out the vehicle. When the deputy attempted to put her in handcuffs, that's when she started resisting arrest, they added. "She retrieved a can of pork and beans and threatened to throw it at him," according to DCSO. The deputy tried using his TASER on her, but it didn't work, according to reports. They added Sigmund threw the can at the official's head and missed.
"The deputy then attempted to physically take Sigmund into custody," police said. "She continued to resist and managed to kick the deputy twice in the ribs." The official also got scratch marks to his arms, forehead and right ear, according to a report.
Sigmund was taken into custody and is at the Douglas County Jail. She faces multiple charges, including assault on a public safety officer, resisting arrest, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct, and interfering with a peace officer.
"The deputy received treatment for minor injuries and is expected to return on his next shift," reporters said.
