The rankings are in!
Is Milwaukee one of the best cities for singles?
WalletHub, a personal finance site, published a new study on Tuesday (December 1), breaking down which cities are the best — and worst — for singles in the U.S.
“Finding love can be tough, especially in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic,” WalletHub Financial Writer Adam McCann wrote. “Different cities have reopened at different rates, and some are hit harder by the pandemic than others. Plus, even if there are ample places to go for an outing, many people are strapped for cash and the average date costs over $100. It certainly pays to live in a place where dating activities, such as dining out or watching a movie, are relatively cheaper.”
WalletHub analyzed data in 182 cities nationwide, including the 150 most populated, using 32 “key indicators of dating-friendliness” to compile the rankings.
Metrics included costs of meals and drinks, number of local attractions, single population and others.
Experts weighed in on financial advice to singles — especially as dating apps become increasingly popular — whether virtual dating during the pandemic can help singles save money and other questions.
Milwaukee landed in spot No. 58 on the list of 182 cities.
The city also earned a 119 for its “economic” ranking, 42 for its “fun & recreation” ranking, and 59 for its “dating opportunities” ranking.
Another Wisconsin city topped the entire list: Madison.
