With the holidays quickly approaching, people are rushing to buy presents and toys for friends and family. However, this year has left so many in a position where buying gifts may be difficult or even impossible. Toy drives are a great way for people to give back to those who are struggling, and that's exactly what one Secret Santa did this year in Gaston County.

An anonymous donor gave $50,000 this year, which will help buy books, toys, clothing, and food for hundreds of children in need around the community. The Secret Santa does this each year, according to WCNC, which then inspires others to donate as well.

"Trying to find food to put on the table or even provide Christmas, it's just been difficult this year," said Arin Farmer, executive director of the Alliance for Children and Youth. "It's just been great to be able to help families the best that we can."

Thanks to the generosity of the community, Farmer said Alliance for Children and Youth was able to raise more than $200,000 this year.

The community also donated toys for children in need, which were gathered by members of the Gastonia Police Department, Gaston County Police Department, Gaston County Sheriff's Office, and Belmont Abbey Police Department. Volunteers will assemble the toys and officers will deliver them to families around the community.
