Deputies said they rescued two people who spent two days in a vehicle stuck in the snow in Southwest Washington.

According to KOMO, 28-year-old Andy Nguyen and 26-year-old Heidi Tran were on their way to a rental cabin in the Glenwood area after they left Seattle Sunday morning (November 29). Family members reported them missing the next day (December 1) to authorities when they didn't arrive at the cabin.

The Skamania County Sheriff's Office said they deployed a search and rescue team to a rural forest road. Officials believe the area was where a computer navigation app would direct them to go.

"An aerial search from a fixed-wing plane helped them locate their rented SUV on the snowbound road just after 5 p.m. The sheriff’s office sent up two Utility Terrain Vehicles, located Tran and Nguyen, and brought them back to the Trout Lake area," reporters said.

The pair told deputies they were following the app's directions but got stuck in deep snow on Sunday. Overnight, another foot-and-a-half of snow made it impossible to dig out the vehicle. Nguyen and Tran said they rationed their food supply and the car's fuel for heat.
