3 Movies Filmed In Massachusetts Released On Streaming Services This Week

Three movies filmed in Massachusetts are set to be released on streaming services on Friday, December 4.

'Godmothered,' starring Isla Fisher ('Wedding Crashers') and Jillian Bell ('22 Jump Street') will be released on Disney+, 'Sound of Metal' starring Riz Ahmed ('Venom') will stream on Amazon Prime and 'Love, Weddings & Other Disasters' starring Academy Award winners Diane Keaton ('Annie Hall') and Jeremy Irons ('Reversal of Fortune') will be available on rent-on-demand services, Boston.com reports.

'Godmothered' is a Christmas-themed movie in which a fairy godmother-in-training (Bell) finds a misplaced letter from a then-10-year-old girl named Mackenzie (Fisher), who is now a 40-year-old single mother working at a Boston television news station that has given up on finding her "happily ever after" following the death of her husband. The film began production in Boston and several surrounding areas -- including Andover, Cambridge, Chelsea, Dedham, Ipswich Lowell, Malden, Marblehead, North Andover, Westford and Weymouth -- in January, before wrapping in March shortly before the pandemic shut down all filming in Massachusetts.

'Sound of Metal,' which centers around a metal drummer (Ahmed) who starts to lose his hearing, was a hit at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival, but had its release delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The film was primarily shot in Ipswich, as well as Boston, Cambridge, Danvers, Framingham, Lawrence, Malden, Rowley and Topsfield.

'Love, Weddings & Other Disasters' is a romantic comedy featuring multiple love stories in which several characters attempt to navigate through entanglements, including wedding planner (Irons) falling for a blind woman (Keaton). The film shot a romantic picnic scene in Boston Public Garden in September 2019, as well as in Beverly, Brockton, Brookline, Cambridge, Milton, Raynham and Revere before finishing in October 2019.
