Detroiters can get free COVID-19 tests in the Highland Park neighborhood through December 17.
SAY Detroit, a local nonprofit organization that has served the community since 2006, reopened its mobile testing site at the SAY Detroit Family Health Clinic in Highland Park in response to “the resurgence of the pandemic in Metro Detroit,” according to a SAY Detroit press release.
The COVID-19 testing site is free to all Metro Detroiters and “enables patients to walk-up or drive-thru,” the release reads. “No prescription is needed, no appointment is required.”
SAY Detroit notes that results typically return within 24 to 48 hours of conducting the nasal swab, but results could take longer.
“We must continue to work together to protect each other,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said during a COVID-19 update Thursday (December 3). “We don’t need an epidemic order to know what the right thing to do is, we just need to do it.”
Chief Medical Executive Joneigh Khaldun said during the update that vaccines could become available to Michiganders as early as December 15.
