A South Florida man jumped into action to save a distressed dolphin, and it was all caught on camera.
According to NBC Miami, the man, identified as Nick Tuduri, was seen on video jet skiing with a friend in the open waters of Biscayne Bay. That's when he spotted a flailing dolphin. The Florida resident noticed the dolphin's tail was caught in a net and was afraid it would drown.
Tuduri grabbed a knife from his jet ski and managed to cut the dolphin free from the net. "Later in the video, as Tuduri and his friend begin driving away, a family of dolphins can be seen swimming beside him — possibly as a sign of gratitude," reporters said.
There have been plenty of close calls involving animals in Florida this year. Recently, a Lee County man rescued his puppy from the jaws of an alligator in his backyard. Last month, wildlife officials said a gator was okay after someone ran over it on a Florida highway. Back in October, a man found a 10-foot long python in the hood of his Mustang in Dania Beach. No one knows how the snake got in there.
