Natalie Desselle-Reid has died at the age of 53.

Holly Robinson Peete was the first to share news of the actress's passing on Twitter Monday (December 7). "Just absolutely decimated by this news... Actress Natalie Desselle, a bright shining star passed away this morning," she wrote. "I got to know her when my mom was managing her. She will be so missed...sending out prayers to her children and husband. Rest In Peace, Sweet Girl."

Shortly after Holly's post, an official statement appeared on Natalie's Instagram account, confirming the late actress' death. "It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beautiful Natalie this morning," the statement began. "She was a bright light in this world. A queen. An extraordinary mother and wife. Her diverse career touched so many and she will be loved forever. Naturally, we are grieving and processing this profound loss and we thank you in advance for respecting our privacy at this extremely difficult time. πŸ™πŸ½πŸ’”."

According to TMZ, Natalie died of colon cancer after having been diagnosed earlier this year. A family member told the outlet she was in hospice care in her final days, and was surrounded by family when she passed.

The 53-year-old actress's career spanned over two decades. She most notably starred in B.A.P.S alongside Halle Berry in 1997 and Rodgers & Hammerstein's 1997 Cinderella, which starred Brandy. Natalie also graced the small screen, appearing in Built to Last, For Your Love, and UPN's Eve.

May she rest in peace.
