Study Shows San Antonio Traffic Is Better Than Dallas, Austin, And Houston

A new study shows that San Antonio's roads aren't nearly as congested as other major Texas cities.
The Texas A&M Transportation Institute put out a study of the most congested roads in Texas.
All of the results of the of the study are based on 2019 results, prior to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
The study shows that the most congested road in Texas is in Austin on IH-35.
Based on wasted time and fuel, the annual cost of the congestion amounts to $288,349,730, and drivers endured about 1,647,353 hours of delay per mile on the highway.
Here are the top ten most congested highways in Texas, according to the study:
- IH 35
- W Loop Fwy/ IH 610
- Southwest DWY/ IH 69/ US 59
- Woodall Rodgers Fwy/ SS 366
- Eastex Fwy/ IH 69/ US 59
- N Loop W Fwy/ IH 610
- Gulf Fwy/ IH 45
- Stemmons Fwy/ IH 35E/ US 77
- US 75
- IH 10/ US 90
The study shows that the most congested road in San Antonio is McAllister Freeway, between Stone Oak Parkway and Loop 1605, and is number 26 on the list.
This road causes more than $24 million in annual congestion costs and 394,686 hours of delay per mile.
