Las Vegas has long held its “Sin City” reputation, but some Nebraska cities apparently aren’t that innocent either.
WalletHub, a personal finance site, released a study Monday (December 7) ranking the most sinful cities in America. The study compared more than 180 cities, accounting for 37 “key indicators of evil deeds.”
“From beer-loving Milwaukee to hedonistic New Orleans, the U.S. is filled with people behaving illicitly,” WalletHub’s study reads. “No place is innocent. We all have demons.”
WalletHub notes that many vices can be costly. Gambling, for instance, accounts for more than $100 billion in losses each year.
“In 2019, identity theft and fraud took a toll of $16.9 billion,” the WalletHub report continued. “And every year, smoking burns an over $300 billion hole in Uncle Sam’s wallet.”
Here are the Nebraska cities that are some of the most sinful in the U.S., according to WalletHub:
- No. 92: Omaha, NE
- No. 15: Lincoln, NE
Experts also considered the extent to which sinful behavior is innate versus learned, what makes some cities more sinful than others, strategies to combat addiction and domestic violence, and even how to avoid temptations during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, among other questions, according to WalletHub.
