Maren Morris Debuts Heartfelt New Song, 'If I Just Get Out Of My Way'

Maren Morris debuted a brand new song tentatively titled "If I Just Get Out Of My Way" during a livestream concert broadcast on Friday (December 4). The country star's performance was captured by several viewers and shared on Twitter over the weekend.

According to the Nashville Scene, "If I Just Get Out Of My Way" finds Morris "examining her choices and the ways she's coped with tough times in the past." Accompanied by one acoustic guitar player, Morris sang, "This stubborn soul is mine for saving / I know I'm gonna make it to the stars someday / If I just get out of my way."

Morris' latest new music arrived in October with the release of her powerful song, "Better Than We Found It." The track, written by Morris alongside Jessie Jo Dillon, Jimmy Robbins and Laura Veltz, challenges listeners to come together to make a positive change in the world. Morris questions if her future self will look back and be proud of how she's living her life now.

"When time turns this moment to dust / I just hope that I'm proud of the woman I was / When lines of tomorrow are drawn / Can I live with the side that I chose to be on?" Morris sings in the chorus. "Will we sit on our hands doing nothing about it / Or will we leave this world better than we found it?"

"I think the world right now is sort of in a perpetual mourning period and I wanted to have a song that had weight but also had hope," Morris previously said of the track. "I still have hope for this country and for the future of it, and as a new mother I wanted to promise my son that I’m going to do everything in my power to leave this world better than the one I came into and the one I see right now."

Outside of music, Morris has been keeping busy at home with her husband, Ryan Hurd, and their baby boy Hayes Andrew. The "Girl" signer recently opened up with People about life as a first-time mother, revealing she hit the parenting jackpot with Hayes.

"Ryan and I are both pretty laid back. We kind of lucked out having a very chill baby," the singer told People. "We’re pretty chill people, so maybe that’s reflected in our kid. We’re learning every day."
