Study: Texas Drivers Are The Third-Worst In The Nation

A new report shows that Texas has some of the worst drivers in the country.

According to CarInsuranceComparison.com, Texas is tied for the third-place spot with Montana.

The study shows that Texas drivers are exceptionally bad about driving while intoxicated. Nearly 46 percent of all traffic-related deaths in the state are due to a driver that had been under the influence. Of the 3,642 traffic-related deaths in 2018, 1,673 involved drivers that operated vehicles while under the influence of alcohol.

Texans were also bad about speeding. 27.2 percent of traffic deaths in the state revolved around drivers speeding. This means that of the 3,642 traffic deaths in 2018, 990 involved driving above the speed limit.

According to the report, Alaska has the worst drivers, with the worst categories being drunk driving and speeding.

Here are the top ten states with the worst drivers:

  • Alaska
  • New Mexico
  • Montana (Tied 3rd)
  • Texas (Tied 3rd)
  • Colorado
  • Nevada
  • Hawaii (Tied 7th)
  • South Carolina (Tied 7th)
  • Delaware
  • Arkansas

These ten worst states accounted for 19.3 percent of all traffic deaths in the United States.
