Toledo v BYU

A recent Wallethub study compared more than 400 cities in the United States of varying sizes to determine the best college towns and cities in the nation.

There were a few cities in Utah that made the cut.

Provo came in third overall in the study. The city also placed second overall for small college towns and third overall for lowest cost of higher education.

Orem came in 32nd overall, followed closely by Salt Lake City in 34th place. Salt Lake also came in 13th overall for midsize college cities while Orem was 14th overall for small college towns.

Logan came in at number 99, but placed 13th overall for wallet friendliness.

To determine the list, Wallethub compared 415 cities across three key dimensions: wallet friendliness, social environment, and academic and economic opportunities.

Each of the three key dimensions were then evaluated using 30 relevant metrics including housing costs, student loan debt per person, students per capita, number of attractions, entrepreneurial activity, and earning potential for college graduates.
