One holiday tradition in Texas will live on amidst the global coronavirus pandemic.
The city of Murphy will continue their 12-year Christmas tradition.
Santa Claus will make visits all across the city with the Murphy Fire and Rescue.
The ride will cover six square miles of the city and cross through many neighborhoods, reports WFAA.
Engineer and driver Brent Ulch stated, "We make sure that we go through every street. We don't wanna miss any kids."
Emergencies will still be covered. Ulch said that the fire engine can leave the tour at any moment to respond to an emergency.
The ride began on Monday and will continue until Santa sees the whole city. The rides start at 6:30 each night and end at 8:30. The rides will not happen on Sundays.
He will stand in the bucket of the truck and wave to residents from the fire engine.
Due to the pandemic, Santa will not throw out candy this year.
Murphy residents can check the status of the ride with the interactive map that shows where Santa is in real-time. The fire engine will not be able to ride on short cul-de-sacs.
