The New Year's holiday usually draws in large crowds and big celebrations. Things will look a lot different this year, however, in the midst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Some cities are more suited for the holiday in the unusual conditions this year.

Wallethub compared the 100 largest cities to compile a list of the best cities in the nation for New Year's.

Three Nevada cities made the list.

Henderson was ranked number 41, Reno was number 52, and Las Vegas was number 59.

Henderson was ranked fifth overall for lowest neighborhood security.

According to the list, the top five best cities for New Year's were:

  1. Virginia Beach, VA
  2. Honolulu, HI
  3. Plano, TX
  4. Fremont, CA
  5. Irvine, CA

To determine the list, Wallethub compared the 100 most populated cities in America across two key dimensions: safety and accessibility and entertainment and food.

The two dimensions were then evaluated using 15 relevant metrics including average COVID-19 deaths in the past week per 100,000 residents, walkability, pedestrian fatality rate, legality of fireworks, and average alcoholic beverage price.
