A Taunton, Massachusetts man received a special gift from his late father on his 21st birthday.
Matt Goodman's father, John, died after a battle with cancer in 2015, when Matt was only 15 years old, Boston 25 News reports. Prior to his passing, John gave his daughter, Casey a $10 bill to be given to Matt on his 21st birthday to buy his first beer, which Casey then gave for her mother to be kept safe in an envelope for six years.
Matt was presented with the gift on Sunday when the family had a small celebration for his birthday.
“It was awesome, it was the best present I could ask for,” Matt said via Boston 25 News.
John's wish came true when his son purchased his first beer: a Bud Light, which was his father's favorite.
“It was pretty awesome, actually. It felt like he was with me through that whole thing. It felt like he was with me actually drinking a beer with me,” Matt said via Boston 25 News.
Matt shared the special moment on Twitter, adding "cheers pops havin this one for you!"

“Ten dollars turned into 240 beers from Budweiser and now it can turn into however much money from donations. It’s crazy how much one little thing can lead to a way bigger thing,” Matt told Boston 25 News.
Matt said he received numerous messages from people asking for his Venmo account to buy him a beer. Instead, he asked for donations to be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which he said "did a lot for my dad so that would be much appreciated!"
