The Carolina Panthers are one step closer to moving its headquarters after city leaders in Rock Hill approved documents for the team's new practice facility in South Carolina. The Panthers will continue to play home games at Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium.

The new state-of-the-art facility, home to Tepper Sports and Entertainment, will be located south of Cherry Road, according to WCNC. It will include a practice facility, offices, restaurants, apartments, hotels, retail, and outdoor entertainment. Construction has begun on the project and is expected to be complete by 2023.

"We saw the vision of the site and we knew from the very beginning that it was more than just a football facility and a couple of fields," said Mark Hart, VP and chief operating officer of Tepper Sports and Entertainment.

Hoping to create a space outside of indoor activities, a large mixed-use event space, known at "The Park," will include a 5,000-seat outdoor stadium. Additionally, "The Grove" will feature reflecting pools, lighting, and trails, site plan renderings show.

The Panthers' move to South Carolina was announced in June 2019, with Gov. Henry McMaster signing a bill that gave the team around $115 million in tax breaks to relocate, according to WCNC.
