Santa Claus has brought an early Christmas gift to a 4-year-old Illinois boy after a previous visit to a mall Santa left him in tears.
In a video that went viral, little Michael DeCarlo breaks out in tears after a mall Santa refuses to add a Nerf gun to the boy's Christmas list.
Santa says:
"No guns...If your dad wants to get it for you, that’s fine. But I can’t bring it to you."
Edited to add: Harlem Irving Plaza has responded quickly and with kindness and understanding. They have a special surprise for Michael that we will share later. Also, many people have offered to send Michael a nerf gun. His wish list has more than been fulfilled so if you’re still feeling generous please contact his mother, Sabella DeCarlo, as they are organizing a large nerf and toy donation to children in need! We’re trying to turn this unfortunate incident into something positive and spread cheer to children who really need it! The HIP is not where you want to take your children to see Santa, if they are asking for Nerf guns.

In reaction to hundreds of negative online comments, the Harlem Irving Plaza sent a different Santa to DeCarlo's home over the weekend, gifting him a brand new Nerf gun.
The boy's mother says, "We thought it was very kind and we’re grateful for their quick response to restore my son’s faith in Santa."
