Sacramento County and the greater Sacramento region will be heading into another stay-at-home order as ICU capacity is dropping.

On Wednesday afternoon the region's ICU capacity dropped to 14.3% triggering California's regional stay-at-home orders, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.

The new order will go into effect at 11:59 P.M. on Thursday, December 10.

Sacramento will be joining the San Joaquin Valley, Southern California, and the Bay Area in lockdown.

Under the stay-at-home order, essential businesses must limit their capacity to 20% and grocery stores must operate at 35% of their capacity. Bars and wineries must close completely.

Restaurants must cease indoor and outdoor dining but can still do takeout and delivery.

Gyms will be allowed to stay open outdoors.

When it comes to celebrating the holidays, the state encourages people to avoid gathering with people outside of their household.

"Gatherings are not permitted at this time," Dr. Olivia Kasirye said in an interview with FOX40. "So yes, people should look at canceling gatherings, especially for those that are outside of the household."

Once the stay-at-home order goes into effect it will remain for three weeks even if the Sacramento region were to jump back above the 15% ICU capacity threshold.
