A Massachusetts college police chief is reportedly accused of driving drunk and crashing into another vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Becker College Police Chief David Bousquet, 55, of Sutton, was charged with drunken driving, leaving the scene of a crash causing property damage, negligent driving and carrying a firearm while intoxicated, the Telegram & Gazette reports.
Auburn Police officers said Bousquet struck another vehicle at an intersection and drove away before being located by officers shortly after walking away from his damaged truck.
“He kept repeating that he had messed up, also apologizing,” Auburn Sgt. Daniel Lamoreaux wrote in a statement of facts filed in Central District Court via the Telegram & Gazette.
Auburn Police received a call about a truck striking a Toyota sedan on Millbury Street and driving away at around 9:04 p.m., according to the report.
"He was swaying, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot and he kept repeating that he had messed up, also apologizing," the police report stated via the Telegram & Gazette.
Police determined the pickup driven by Bousquet struck the driver's side of the Toyota on Millbury Street, which caused damages, including a shattered window to the sedan before driving off.
Police said Bousquet's Ford F-150 was found vacant with a flat front fire and fresh damage on the driver's side door nearby. Officers discovered a nearly empty can of Budweiser on the floorboard of the pickup.
Bousquet is scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on February 23, 2021.
