Kid Cudi has released his new album, Man on the Moon III: The Chosen.

The Chicago rapper unveiled the highly-anticipated project last night (December 10) to mark the culmination of his Man on the Moon trilogy. For his latest effort, Cudi recruits the talents of an eclectic range of featured artists, including Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers, British emcee Skepta, rapper-singer, and the late rapper Pop Smoke. In addition, The Chosen also utilizes the sounds of Tame Impala, Tom Hanks’ voice in Cast Away, and other surprising samples.

To carry the hype of the project’s arrival, Cudi accompanied its release with the visual for his new track “She Knows This,” which revisits the musician’s sinister alter ego, Mr. Rager.

In his own words, Cudi described The Chosen as “nothing” like his earlier two installments. “My first 2 albums were meant to be untopped,” he cautioned fans of his new music back in October 2015. “I didn't even think Id live to make another record after motm 2... My point is, u cant top timeless. And that was what we aim for everytime.”

Telling by the tweets, it seems Cudi’s vision has been well received.

One user wrote, “The production. The pen work. The vocals. The flow. The artistry. The emotion. The beauty that is Cudi. I absolutely love this album from start to finish! THIS is what we’ve been wanting & u delivered! I love you, Scotty! Thank you for taking us on this journey @KidCudi #MOTMIII.”

Another added, “#MOTMIII @KidCudi only you can combine each and every great thing we loved about all of your albums and create this complete masterpiece. Cant say thank you enough bro.”

As aforementioned, The Chosen is the third and final installment of the years-long era Cudi initiated in 2009 with the release of his debut album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day. The record catapulted the 36-year-old to mainstream stardom following the success of hits like “Day ’n’ Nite,” “Make Her Say” and “Pursuit of Happiness.” Cudi followed with its second chapter, The Legend of Mr. Rager, in the following year, generating joints like “Erase Me” and “Mr. Rager.”
