A Dallas coffee shop focused on bettering the lives of the women who work there will soon open its doors.

“This is a starting business to give people a second chance,” Natalie Huscheck, co-president of Well Grounded Coffee Community, told the Dallas Morning News.

Huscheck and her husband Michael are opening Well Grounded in Far East Dallas on December 28. They hired two baristas who are mothers who were formerly incarcerated. The goal is to help them get back on their feet.

The Huschecks are partnering with Exodus Ministries, a faith-based nonprofit that helps ex-offenders re-enter society. Natalie hopes Well Grounded will grow so that she can employ more women through Exodus or similar organizations.

“We’re starting with two, and we’re super excited just to be starting, but even the two of these ladies are praying and hoping for the next hire and to help more women like they have already been helped,” Natalie told NBC DFW.

The Huschecks not only want to help others with Well Grounded but to also have a competitive coffee shop.

“We spared no expense on coffee and equipment,” Michael told the Advocate magazine.

The shop will source their coffee from Full City Roosters while selling soups, salads, and pastries from other local businesses.
