Caring means displaying kindness and concern for others.
This can be expressed in many ways- from reaching out a helping hand to a friend in need and donating toys to children during the holidays to staying by someone's side as they fight an illness too strong for medication.
Wallethub stated that Americans have showed their care through charitable donations more and more.
The site recently released a list of the most caring cities in the nation and several Arizona cities made the list.
The highest-placing Arizona city was Gilbert at number 13. Gilbert was 2nd overall for 'lowest child poverty rate' and 3rd overall for 'caring for the community'.
Scottsdale placed directly under Gilbert at number 14 and was 4th overall for 'caring for the community'.
Here are the other Arizona cities that made the list and their rankings:
- Chandler- 34
- Mesa- 46
- Tucson- 68
- Glendale- 74
- Phoenix- 75
Glendale was 5th overall for 'highest percentage of workers who carpool'.
To determine the list, Wallethub compared the 100 most populated cities across three dimensions: caring for the community, caring for the vulnerable, and caring in the workforce.
Those three dimensions were then evaluated using 39 relevant metrics including violent crime rate, caring for the environment, child poverty rate, disability-friendliness of employers, paramedics per capita, and firefighters per capita.
