Authorities in Mississippi are looking for two adults who left a two-year-old boy at a Goodwill in the city of Southaven. Police said that a man walked the young boy to the Goodwill and abandoned him, leaving the child with a plastic grocery bag containing food, a change of clothes, and a note scribbled on a paper towel.

According to WREGthe note said, “child abandoned…no phone number for mom.”

The employee who took the child told the news station that the man told him, “the child’s mother couldn’t care for him” before he walked away. The boy appeared to be in good spirits, playing with toys and eating food. He was unable to tell the police his name or the names of his parents. When he was asked how old he was, he held up two fingers.

Police searched the area but were unable to locate the man. They also released photos of a woman who was seen walking with the boy on nearby surveillance cameras. The two individuals were seen driving away in a red compact SUV with a large dent on the rear door.

Officials have asked anybody who may know the identity of the young boy to contact the Southaven Police Department at (662) 393-8652.
