Sasha Obama Trends On Twitter As Unrecognizable Photo Goes Viral

An image that appears to be of Sasha Obama is making Twitter users do a double-take.

Chances are you’ve probably browsed the social media platform at least once over the weekend, and if that’s true, then you most likely noticed the daughter of former President of the United States Barack Obama was — and still is, as we speak — a trending topic for over 75,000 users around the world. (It wouldn't be the first time she's gone viral, either.)

On Sunday (December 13), MEFeater Magazine was among the myriad Twitter accounts that circulated a photo many are convinced shows Sasha wearing a white crop top with nothing more than a colorful ombre bikini bottom and what appears to be a long white shirt wrapped around her waist. The image also shows the 19-year-old wearing makeup and rocking long blue nails and necklaces and a gold belly chain.

Although the woman in the photo has not been confirmed as Sasha, Twitter was shook all the same.

“What kind of magical water is sasha obama drinking to be able to look this beautiful,” one user tweeted, as another wrote, “I CAN’T BELIEVE ME AND THEE #SashaObama USE THE SAME LIPGLOSS.”

While the reception from the image was mostly positive, it did raise cause for alarm from others about Sasha’s appearance and the overall nature. Some don't believe the image is really her, with others raising questions about the man looming behind her.

“The whole pic is awkward,” one user tweeted. “Is she kneeling or sitting? Is that a table in front of her? Is it actually Sasha? Is that her purse with a hair clip on it? Who is the scary looking dude in the background? Somebody better watch him! Seriously. When and where was this taken? Masks?”

Despite the controversies, celebrities have been supporting Sasha's coming-of-age in the spotlight.

Jameela Jamil tweeted, "Oh shut up about Sasha Obama, she’s young, free and harming nobody. … She looks happy and she deserves to grow up expressing herself and having fun. Singer Aubrey O'Day also defended the teenager, adding, "Keep your f—ing comments clean when you speak on the beautiful & smart Sasha Obama!"
