Coronavirus Testing Sites Set Up Around Boston Area

Boston Medical Center was reportedly the first hospital to receive a COVID-19 vaccine shipment in the state of Massachusetts.

The facility received its first round of COVID-19 vaccines for front line workers at around 9:00 a.m. on Monday (December 14,) CBS Boston reports.

“This week, we will begin the first wave of vaccinations to front line health care workers, a group including doctors and nurses from our ICU and Emergency Department, but just as importantly, employees from environmental and support services, and other crucial support positions that work in COVID-positive patient areas,” a spokesman for Boston Medical Center told CBS Boston.

Tufts Medical Center is reportedly expected to receive its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines on Tuesday, while other hospitals in the state are also expected to receive their first shipments early this week as well, CBS Boston reports.

Last Wednesday (December 9,) Governor Charlie Baker announced a detailed plan for distributing an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine in the state of Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon.

The plan will include three phases of recipient priority, with Phase 3 expected to take place in spring 2021, according to Mass.gov.

Here's how the three-phase estimated COVID-19 vaccine timeline breaks down:

  • Healtcare workers doing non-COVID care

Phase Two

  • February 2021-April 2021
