After a long and much-streamed reign, The Office is leaving Netflix.
Beginning in January 2021, The Office will be available to stream on Peacock. While the entire series will technically be available to stream on NBC's new platform, there is a catch that some people may not like.
For those less familiar with Peacock, NBC's platform actually has several different membership levels, including a free, ad-supported level. Peacock subscribers with free membership will only be able to access the first two seasons of The Office. In order to view seasons 3 through 9, you will need the Peacock Premium membership. This level costs $4.99 per month for the ad-supported version or $9.99 per month for the ad-free version.
In addition to having access to all nine seasons of The Office, Peacock Premium members will also have access to special The Office: Superfan Episodes, which will include a ton of never-before-seen content. “Having The Office back in the NBC family opens up access to a lot of extra content that we originally shot. The team at Peacock wanted to create the ultimate destination for fans, so I went back into the dailies with the original editors of the show and found some never-before-seen footage that was cut for time but is still fun to see," series creator Greg Daniels revealed.
"You can choose to watch the classic version of the show, or the superfan extended cuts with this new footage and other deleted scenes that we are gradually rolling out, starting with season 3," he continued. "The experience on Peacock should feel like a celebration of The Office for fans.”
In case you didn't know, all Comcast subscribers have access to a Peacock Premium membership with their cable subscriptions. If you're a fan of The Office, make sure you check out this option so you can keep the beloved sitcom on repeat next year.
