Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is “ready” to sign a bill that lays out a stimulus plan of up to $100 million. She urged the Legislature to work on the plan to help Michiganders financially impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Whitmer held a COVID-19 update Tuesday afternoon (December 15). In part, she spoke about the proposed stimulus plan.

“Yesterday, I sent another letter to the Legislature, urging them to work with me on priorities like $100 million in COVID-19 relief,” Whitmer said. “We know this virus is hurting our people, hurting our businesses.”

“We here in Michigan have got to step up and take action,” she continued. “I’m ready to sign a bill, so it’s crucial for the Legislature to find some common ground and pass a targeted, state-based economic stimulus plan of up to $100 million to provide direct financial support to the families and small businesses that have been hit the hardest by this pandemic.”

Registered voters who participated in a recent poll indicate that most Michiganders approve of Whitmer’s handling of the pandemic, according to the Detroit Regional Chamber.

The Detroit Regional Chamber commissioned Glengariff Group Inc. to conduct the poll, and announced its findings Tuesday.
