Molson Coors Beverage Company is aiming to help communities hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic through its community giving program.
The company will be donating 540,000 meals to the Food Bank of the Rockies in Denver as part of the initiative.
On December 15, the global beverage company announced its efforts to provide relief for the growing number of Coloradans struggling with food insecurity during the coronavirus pandemic.
"As the number of people impacted by COVID-19 continues to grow, food insecurity has become a community crisis and food banks are seeing unprecedented demand," Molson Coors' Community Affairs Director Kayla Garcia said in a statement.
One in seven people and one in five children are currently facing food insecurity in Colorado, according to the Food Bank of the Rockies.
The food bank's monthly distribution volume has increased by 59% compared to this time last year. Some months saw over an 80% increase compared to pre-covid statistics.
The company will also be donating meals to the Food Bank of Rockies in Wyoming.
"We have seen a tremendous increase in need across Colorado as a result of COVID-19, and that has been consistent since March," said Food Bank of the Rockies' President and CEO Erin Pulling. "We are grateful for the support of Molson Coors, whose generosity will help us provide the equivalent of 540,000 meals to our community to meet this increased need. Gifts like these are essential for Food Bank of the Rockies to fight hunger and ensure our community thrives."
Molson Coors is continuing its work by donating canned water, producing hand sanitizer, and offering relief funds to support those in the struggling bar and restaurant industry.
