2020 has been a unique year, and one Dallas family created display that definitely follows suit.
The family opted out of traditional Christmas decorations and created a massive Nintendo display all along the front of their home.
Katie Milam told CBS DFW, "My husband and my son love Nintendo. We figured this is a different year so we wanted to go with a different kind of decoration."
The family spent about a month creating the giant Nintendo game.
The front yard was complete with a letter to Santa asking for Super Mario 3.
Milam said, "We had to put in the new mailbox because they couldn't deliver the mail."
Milam said that while the family isn't full of artists, they were inspired by a recent Halloween porch display they did for their son's school. "We won first prize at school we were like 'oh, we're pretty good at this!"
The contest has inspired the family to go all out for the holidays.
Milam said about her husband and Dallas firefighter Mike Milam, "This has been a crazy year for our family. For one, my husband is a first responder so you know having somebody that was in a stressful position all year. So this just provided like a fun artistic outlet to take your mind off the craziness outside the door."
To check out the decorations, see the house on Belmont Avenue in Lower Greenville.
