The string of Amazon truck robberies continues in Cleveland. The latest one marks the fifth carjacking in the past few weeks.
Most recently, Cleveland police responded to an incident at an apartment complex on Triskett Road in Westpark. It happened around 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon (December 16). The delivery driver apparently left the Amazon truck running while delivering packages at the apartment building, and saw someone else driving it away when he turned around.
The Amazon delivery driver told police that a white SUV followed the stolen Amazon truck out of the parking lot of the apartment complex, though it wasn’t immediately clear how many people were in the vehicle.
Shortly after the carjacking, authorities found the stolen vehicle a block away from the scene, cleveland.com reported Friday morning (December 18).
According to the report, someone saw the alleged thieves take packages from the truck and flee in the SUV.
Police have not arrested any suspects in the Wednesday robbery, nor have they made arrests in other incidents, which began in late November. Robberies remain under investigation.
Previously, Amazon arranged to “make things right” with the customers whose packages were stolen in the robberies, according to a spokesperson.
