A little kindness goes a long way.

In a turbulent year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, a polarizing election and other unexpected events, Americans are still being helpful and generous in their own way. Some people may be more generous than others -- depending on where they live.

WalletHub did a study on 100 U.S. cities to see which ones are the most caring in 2020. Caring can be expressed in various ways, so the personal finance website looked at various indicators for their rankings -- from community work to workplace assistance.

Only one Washington city made the list, and that was Seattle! Compared to the other cities, it ranked No. 11 overall. The Emerald City also got a nod from researchers, as well. According to the study, Seattle ranked No. 5 for the lowest poverty rates.

"As a whole, Americans have shown their care through charitable giving more and more," writer Adam McCann said. "However, even if you can’t afford to give away your income – especially during the difficult conditions of this year – there are plenty of other ways to show kindness to others."
