Where does Tennessee rank in terms of states with the most Christmas spirit?

CenturyLink conducted a recent study, which found the state of Tennessee ranked No. 6 overall among all 50 states and the District of Columbia in terms of states with the most Christmas spirit.

CenturyLink said its data team analyzed two categories, online activity and area culture, to determine its list. Online activity included four key metrics broken down into percentages:

  • Google searches for Christmas movies and gingerbread houses (29%)
  • Online shopping via Google Shopping Trends for Christmas related materials (28%)
  • Streaming of Christmas music (14.5%)
  • Tweets about Christmas (7%)

Area culture was broken down into the following key metrics:

  • Number of Christmas tree farms per capita (7%)
  • Charitable giving in the last documented tax year, per the IRS (14.5%)
