Blake Street Tavern will be temporarily closing on January 1, 2021.
The Denver sports bar announced the decision in a tweet on Saturday, December 19. They hope to reopen when the state's current ban on indoor dining is lifted "or if State's Tent guidelines are modified."
Blake Street Tavern's owner, Chris Fuselier commented on the closure in a tweet of his own.
While the closure is meant to be temporary, he hopes it remains that way.
"One of the most heartbreaking days of my life. To announce I'm closing our business (I'm praying it is temporary) and furlough another 25 staff before Xmas, there are no words to describe," tweeted Fuselier. "Regrettably, BTS ran out of bullets and COVID's economic consequences sidelined us."
TIMEOUT: It is with a heavy heart that we are taking a pause and temporarily closing on January 1. We hope to reopen when the Indoor Dining ban is lifted or if State’s Tent guidelines are modified.

Fuselier was among several plaintiffs that requested a temporary restraining order to block Colorado Governor Jared Polis' executive order requiring cars to hold last call at 10:00 P.M., according to 9NEWS.
The judge denied the request in July.
As businesses like Blake Street Tavern struggle to stay open amid the pandemic, the Colorado Department of Public Health is working to pass a 5 Star State Certification Progam that would allow businesses to reopen at a greater capacity despite the state's red level COVID-19 dial restrictions.
