Washington will be getting more COVID-19 vaccines this week after federal officials gave Moderna emergency approval for its vaccine, according to KOMO.

Last week, Gov. Jay Inslee announced that the Evergreen State would get less doses than initially projected for the week of December 21. State leaders now expect 128,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine to arrive along with 48,500 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech's vaccine this week.

In total, Washington may see 238,900 doses by the end of this week, according to KOMO. The Centers for Disease Control's advisory group also voted on who will get the vaccine next. Currently, Group 1A are getting vaccinated, which includes health care workers caring for coronavirus patients and residents and staff at long-term care facilities.

"The next group, 1B, will be people aged 75 or older and essential front-line workers like police, firefighters, teachers, grocery staff, postal service and public transit workers," reporters said. "Group 1C will include people 65 to 74 years old and people aged 16 to 64 with high-risk medical conditions, along with other essential workers like transportation, construction and the media."

Public health officials hope 20 million Americans will be vaccinated by the end of 2020.
