The holidays look different in different parts of the world and even in different households. In a country as large as the U.S., there's likely to be a lot of variation when it comes to celebrating Christmas.
Every state has its very own special holiday celebration. California's unique holiday tradition is the fitting Laguna Niguel's Surfing Santa Competition.
Unfortunately, most of this year's events have inevitably been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. This year's contest was postponed until 2021.
For the last decade, people have headed out to Laguna Niguel, California watch athletes don white beards, fully red coats, and hats while and battle it out on the waves of Salt Creek Beach.
While it's a fun and silly way to celebrate the holidays, the competition also taps into the season's compassionate and heartwarming aspects. The proceeds from the event support Surfers Healing which a surf camp for children with autism.
Surfer's Healing hosts more than 5,500 children for free one-day surf camps in locations across America as well as Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico.
Although this year's competition was canceled, hopefully, Santa will be able to ride the waves for a great cause for Christmas 2021.
