Generally, this is the year for virtual celebrations and modified traditions this holiday season.

But Clevelanders can still make Covid-safe trips to the A Christmas Story House and Museum, packed with props and movie memorabilia all fans will appreciate.

“Once you get here, it will feel like Christmas,” staff member Brittany Knafler told 19 News.

She explained that there are some changes in place to help keep guests safe from COVID-19, including dispersing hand sanitizing stations throughout the house and signs that let guests know how many people are permitted in each room at a time. Masks are required to walk through the house, and staff will wipe down props any time someone touches them.

“So we are constantly disinfecting and we’re use to doing that anyway because we see around 80,000 people a year,” Knafler told 19 News, though that number has dwindled this year amid the pandemic. She added, “it puts a smile on your face to see the Christmas Story house and to see all the people coming and going and that definitely puts me in the Christmas spirit.”

The Tremont house, at 3159 W. 11th St. in Cleveland with an accompanying gift shop across the street, is “now restored to its movie splendor.”

Though it’s open all year, it draws many of its visitors around the holidays.
