Roseville police officers came across 13 unopened packages dumped in a field on Sunday, December 20.
Officers were called out to an area just outside of the Roseville city limits, according to FOX40. It's there where they discovered over a dozen abandoned packages.
After retrieving them, police officers noticed that All of the packages were addressed to homes in Roseville.
Police contacted the shipping company and "fearing some Christmas presents may not make it to their destinations on time," the officers decided to deliver the 13 packages themselves.
Many in the Sacramento area feared their Christmas gifts would either not be delivered on time or stolen from just outside their doorstep.
Earlier this month, a Sacramento neighborhood started a porch pirate patrol to discourage people from stealing packages in the area.
Sacramento also happens to be one of the ten worst metro cities for package theft this year, according to a Safewise study.
There was no information on why the packages were left in a filed outside city limits or who discovered them before contacting authorities.
Roseville police said they are investigating how the packages were left in the field.
